Aim for Excellence!

From the Principal

Welcome to our website. On behalf of the WOK faculty and staff I bring you greetings. I am very fortunate to be a part of the WOK school community. My number one goal remains the safety and well being of your children. One of our school goals was to change the climate of our building. I believe this goal has been achieved. Therefore the essential goal for 2009-10 is improving instruction for maximum student learning opportunities. You can help by becoming active in your child's learning. Make sure they have a library card and they're using it. Limit television viewing to a minimum on school nights. Please take time to check your child's planner and homework. You are welcomed to visit our school and meet with your child's teachers and guidance counselor. Due to our new department format you can meet with all your child's core subject teachers at the parent conferences or team meeting time which is scheduled two Mondays a month from 3:10 until 4:10pm. Also become involved in our school through volunteering some time in tutoring a child, become a class assistant or maybe chaperone a dance or trip. Please become active in our school's PTA this year. Our doors remain open to you. We will have many opportunities for you to formally visit our school. We are planning a Faculty and Family Fun night on February 19th. But don't wait until then to visit. We also have Back to School Night, parent conferences, plays, concerts, athletic events or you can volunteer with our community service club. Our school has improved each of the four years I have been here. Let's continue to move forward in the 2009-10 school year. I look forward to meeting and working with you this year. Warmest regards to you and your families. Grace to you.
